HAVELIES

PATWA HAVELI

Patwon ki haveli is the most important and the largest haveli. It is not a single haveli but a group of five small havelis. The first in the row is also known as Kothari’s Patwa haveli. The first among these was commissioned and constructed in the year 1805 by Guman Chand Patwa, then a rich trader of jewelry and find brocades, and is the biggest and the most grandiose. 

NATHMAL HAVELI

This haveli was the residence of diwan Mohata Nathmal. Maharawal beri sal commissioned the construction of this haveli. The architects of this haveli were Hathi and Lulu. There is a very interesting story regarding its construction. It is said that the two brothers started bullying different facets of haveli simultaneously. In those days there were no such instruments, which could keep a track on continuity, which could keep a track on continuity and thus when this building came up finally it had irregular shape

SALAM SINGH HAVELI

This admirable mansion has a beautiful arched roof with excellent carved brackets in the form of Peacocks. The walls, balconies are all covered with imperial paintings. There is also a superb painting of a man in a Mughal style, wearing a black turban. It is said that once the Haveli of Salim singh had two additional wooden storeys in an attempt to make it as high as the maharaja’s palace, but the maharaja had the upper storey torn down. This beautiful architectural building is one of the major attraction of Jaisalmer.

GADISAR LAKE

The Gadisar lake is one of the most famous places in Jaisalmer which was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal he was the first ruler of Jaisalmer. In the later years Maharaja gar singh rebuilt the lake. The entrance to the lake is called as Tilon-ki-Pol. a magnificent and artistically carved yellow sandstone archway installed in the year 1908. This was the water source for all kind of use 

MANDIR PALACE

It was build by Maharawal Bairisal . It situated in presently residence building of royal family. The impossible structure with a number of anter rooms and narrow corridors. It’s outer face is decorated with rich bays and balconies. Floppy dome and the rising storeys resemble tazia during ‘Muharram’. It is also known as Badal Vilas and Tazia tower.

JAWAHAR VILAS

This building was build by maharaja Jawahar Singh. The plan of this building has so artistically been contrived that the pearl like southern facade imparts a sense of satisfaction. The walls are decorated with painting giving looks of victorian fashion. It is one of the magnificent building of the town. now royal family runs a hotel in this building. 

SUNSET POINT


pushkarna Brahmins. Artistic centatahs are build her. Sunset point has been developed at the comparatively hill. It is situated at bara bag road. It is peaceful place to watch sunset.
